After defusing an internecine war between two factions of the galactic extremists of the Universal Church of Truth, the Annihilators discovered a threat so great it could wipe out countless worlds. Rushing to contain it before it was too late, the team landed on Earth and proceeded to destroy a small isolationist city in the middle of Colorado. Secretly established by the universal church to convert Earth to their service. Just as the alien leaders slipped back to hide among their human followers, the Avengers arrived, prepared to take down the Annihilators for invading the Earth.

As Rocket Raccoon and Groot were roaming the seedier parts of the galaxy in search of wrongs to right, they narrowly evaded capture by the sinister Badoon, only to discover their spaceship was a fake. In fact it was all an elaborate setup courtesy of the mad inter-dimensional media Mogul Mojo, who’s filming an all-new TV pilot that’s sure to launch Rocket into the Big Time!

Discovering a cosmic-level extinction event brewing on Earth, the Annihilators struck first. Attacking a small isolationist compound in the middle of Colorado that hid an unknown plot by the galactic extremists of the Universal Church of Truth. As Earth’s mightiest heroes, the Avengers, arrived to thwart the Annihilator’s perceived attack on innocent humans, the resulting brawl delayed both parties long enough for the Church to complete their experiment: the Resurrection of their leader, the Magus!

The galactic extremists known as the Universal Church of Truth have resurrected their leader, the Magus, on Earth. Though the Annihilators and Earths’ mightiest heroes the Avengers, imprisoned the child Zealot in an attempt to contain the threat, the Magus responded by spreading his consciousness through thirty percent of the U.S. population using the faith energy of the Church’s belief font.
As both teams searched desperately for a way to reverse the process without killing innocent people, the Church called in an armada of starships to claim Earth. Ronan responded with reinforcements of his own: to protect the greater galaxy. If the heroes are unsuccessful in containing Magus, he will order a host of Kree sentry robots to annihilate the entire North American Continent.
